Day 1: Tuesday May 12

This is the latest information on Holly's condition for those who knew the Ingersoll family (Holly-SC '75).

Accident last night around 6pm.

We are now about 24 hours since this dreadful accident has happend. Alot of friends and family have been on the edge of their seats and pacing for new information. I'm sure many of us wish we can be there for the Abrams/Ingersoll family.

As of 6:10 pm :

Just spoke again briefly with Uncle Herb. Holly made it through surgery and her body has gone through hell. She is still critial. Ryissa is doing well, up and moving around with her family. Nicholas has more serious injuries but they have moved him into the same room with Ryissa. Ron is spending as much time as he can with all three of them. Heavy heart as I sign off for today.

As of 11:30 am :
From Starr: At the present she is in surgery having her knee replaced. She has a collapse lung and lots of broken bones on her right side. There is a concern with the bleeding/swelling in neck and head. For the children too.

From Uncle Herb via Loni Borton: Hi - I just had a conversation with Uncle Herb Ingersoll. Some of this information may be duplicated - I understand Star's son is also posting but I don't see his posts.

Current: All three are stable. Holly's BP is close to normal, dangerously low last night. Still worried about spinal swelling but the Dr.s don't think there will be any paralysis.

Accident: Semi coming down the hill (hwy150), lost breaks and driver tried to turn right into a quarry to slow down. The turn tipped the truck on its side leaving Holly's lane blocked. Holly's van is in pieces. Uncle Herb said that the engine is 20+ feet away from the frame of the vehicle. If it had been a true head-on all three would be dead but Holly tried to swerve so the right side of her car received most of the impact. That would logically explain all the personal damage to the right side of the body.

Most of Holly's bones are broken/shattered on the right side.Holly's rt arm broken, rt femer broken, rt knee shattered (she is in surgery right now to replace the knee), rt ankle shattered, broken neck at C7 level. Holly and both kids have had bleading in the brain - Dr's think this is under control. Nicholas has a brain fracture from his brow to the back of his head. So there would be swelling into the brain also. Holly had a collased lung (assuming right side but do not know for sure).

Uncle Herb talked to Holly at 2 am Chattanooga time and she was conscious and coherent. He said they all have been badly beat up and he would not have recognized them.

There were three in the truck, driver, passenger in the front and passanger in the sleeper. He has not confirmed it but thinks that the sleeper passenger is deceased due to the truck starting on fire. Other passenger in a burn unit and driver in ICU at the hospital where Holly is but they do not know her condition.
